Serving the Grace Family...
Grace's Elder Board is here to serve you and your family. Here's an introduction to each of the individuals currently serving as an elder at Grace. If they can be of assistance to you or your family, please don't hesitate to contact the church office.

Leo Bister and his wife, Rosie, were high school sweethearts and have celebrated 25 years together. Rosie serves as an office manager at Oakmont Elementary School in Claremont. Leo has worked as an electrical engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for 25 years and currently is managing the development of the flight electronics for the next Mars rover mission. They have three children.
The Bisters have been attending Grace for 15 years. During that time, Leo has served as a leader for the mid-size and small group ministries and has also regularly served as a sound technician for the worship services. Before coming to Grace, he and Rosie served as leaders of their church's junior high youth group. Leo's spiritual gifts are wisdom/discernment, leadership, mercy, and hospitality. His vision for Grace is to see our congregation fall more deeply in love with Christ, and for that love to be the source of energy for all of our ministry activities.

Mike Hardy and his wife, Beverly, have four children. Mike currently owns and operates a mortgage company. Mike began attending Grace 10 years ago and has served on the Property Team, Resource Team, and one of the Sunday teardown teams. He also currently leads a small group. Mike's spiritual gifts are wisdom, giving, knowledge, leadership, and teaching. He has a passion for helping people discover and use their gifts and strengths to serve God, the Grace family, and the community.

Tim Hopper and his wife, Laura, live in Pomona and have attended Grace since 1994. They were both baptized at Grace in 1996. Tim currently works as the service manager for a manufacturer of traffic safety and calming devices, and Laura serves as the director of Children's Ministry for Grace. Tim and Laura have been married 21 years and have two children: Doug and Shannon.
In his spare time, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, camping, mountain biking, and kayaking. During his years at Grace, Tim has been involved as a greeter and small group leader and has also served on the Men's Ministry Team and Programming Team. Currently he leads one of Grace's setup teams and is our lead sound technician. He is also a regular teacher for the Joint Heirs class.
Tim's spiritual gifts are faith, discernment, and teaching. He desires to use these gifts to help Grace be a place where the name of Jesus Christ is proclaimed, the Word of God taught accurately and completely, and where the Spirit of God is active and working in the lives of our people. As we live by faith and in the sufficiency of Christ, his vision is for us to proclaim through our lives the power and love of our Lord.

Mal Johnson and his wife, Karen, have celebrated more than 31 years of marriage together. Karen currently teaches line dancing for the city of La Verne through the Parks & Recreation Department, and Mal worked for Spicers Paper Company as a sales rep for 31 years. They have three adult children and two wonderful grandchildren.
The Johnsons have been attending Grace for over 20 years. Currently Mal serves as a leader for Grace's Men's Ministry, as well as serving on the Property Team and providing financial mentoring through the Good $ense Ministry. Mal's primary spiritual gifts are administration and leadership. His desire is for our church family to sense God's presence and leading in our daily lives and for us to use our gifts and talents to help our church family and share God's message with others in our community.

Dennie Reed and his wife, Selma, have lived in La Verne for 38 years. They have three adult sons. Dennie has worked for Vulcan Materials, a construction materials company, as a transportation manager for the past 10 years. He and Selma have been attending Grace for about six years and currently serve together on the Greeters Team and participate in one of Grace's small groups. Dennie also serves on a Sunday setup team. His spiritual gifts are encouragement, discernment, and serving. As Chair of the Elder Board, his vision for Grace is that we become a family of believers committed to our Lord Jesus Christ, each other, our community, and the world.

Bruce Webb and his high school sweetheart, Elana, have been married 37+ years and live in La Verne. They have four daughters: Amanda (married to Kevin Haras), Jennifer (married to Paul Smith), Megan, and Courtney. They also have three grandchildren. Bruce is the Business Development Director for the Los Angeles office of RSM McGladrey, an international CPA organization.
In his spare time, he enjoys golf and working in the yard. Elana has been a public school teacher in La Verne for 12 years, first at Oak Mesa and then for the past 10 years at Ramona Middle School. The Webbs have attended Grace for 12 years.
Serving in the church has been a way of life for Bruce for 45 years now. He has participated in drama ministries within the church since high school. He's also served as a children's, youth, and adult Sunday School teacher; choir member; and currently is a member of Grace's Property Team. Bruce's primary spiritual gift is teaching. He is committed to helping Grace be a place where people are excited to learn God's Word and then to put action behind that knowledge by reaching out into the community to touch the lives of others in Christ's name.

David Bernal and his family began attending Grace in January 2007 after moving to Claremont. Since then, David has served as a small group facilitator, host for youth events, teacher for Student Ministry, setup and teardown volunteer, and drama ministry participant. His spiritual gifts are teaching, faith, and prophecy. David’s vision for Grace is for world-changing people and events to emerge from our church family.
David has been married to his childhood sweetheart, Stephanie, for twenty years. Stephanie currently serves as a small group facilitator for the junior high girls. David and Stephanie have three children: David Jr. (sophomore at APU and co-coordinator of Student Ministry’s small groups), Joshua (active in Student Ministry), and Sarah (active in Student Ministry and volunteer for Children’s Ministry).
For the past 13 years, David has supervised a team of mechanical engineers for The Langham Huntington Hotel Company. In his spare time he loves to work out alone, saying he hears the Holy Spirit best in the “solitude of his exhaustion.”
